         In this image,
the Bodhisattva Kuan-yin
is     portrayed     with
a      countenance     of
compassionate solemnity, 
and with sleeves gently
wafting in the breeze.  
Exquisite embellishments 
of beads and flowers have 
been applied.  On the base 
appears the commercial 
mark of a Foochow lacquer 
atelier. It is a masterpiece
of  Foochow  lacquer ware of
more recent times.
